Proposed windfarm development at Hamsterley

Whatever your opinion is of either Hamsterley or Windfarms this news piece is for you.

Banks Developments Ltd are looking to put a windfarm adjacent to Hamsterley Forest in the fields opposite the Downhill Course.  They are exhibiting their proposals to the public on Wednesday 18 May from 2pm to 7pm in Hamsterley Village Hall and Thursday 19 May from 2pm to 7pm in Woodland Village Hall.  A local group opposing the development is holding public exhibitions on Tuesday 7 June in Copley Village Hall, Wednesday 8 June in Woodland Village Hall and Thursday 9 June in Hamsterley Village Hall (times to be advised.)  If you are interested/concerned about this development – please try to attend these exhibitions.

A further application has just been received by Durham County Council for a wind monitoring mast at West Shipley Farm, Howlea Lane, Hamsterley (by Knitsley Fell) to determine whether it is a suitable site for a 75 metre high wind turbine.  Comments on this are invited by 2 June 2011.
